Ситуация вызвала негативную реакцию правозащитника, депутата парламента от ДПН Омера Фарука Гергерлиоглу. Он разместил в Твиттер фотографию задержанной женщины, сопроводив комментарием: «Нуран Япалак… Ребенок, которого вы видите, больше не может сосать грудь. Его мать сегодня арестовали. Она содержится в одиночной камере в Силифке. Ребенок плачет дома, а мать за решеткой…! Это вверх зла в тюрьмах и судах Турции».
Твит Гергерлиоглу прокомментировал адвокат Омер Кавили: «Соблюдаются ли права ребенка? Мать можно судить не помещая под стражу. А если у нее остановится молоко, что будет с малышком?»
