Reuters: Турция тратит деньги, которых у нее нет  

 

За несколько минут до того, как президент Тайип Эрдоган выступил с речью, в которой вновь отказался от высоких процентных ставок, центральный банк Турции заявил, что продает доллары для поддержки лиры.

По состоянию на ноябрь чистые резервы банка составляли 25 миллиардов долларов по сравнению с 28 миллиардами в предыдущем месяце. Но это включает еще 48 миллиардов долларов свопов от местных банков, без которых резервы находятся в отрицательной зоне.

Поддержание курса валюты может замедлить сползание Турции к гиперинфляции, но доллар в стране рискует иссякнуть. Банк продал около 128 миллиардов долларов, чтобы стабилизировать курс лиры в 2019-2020 годах, и ему все же пришлось повысить процентную ставку. Когда в августе 2020 года чистые резервы составляли 28 миллиардов долларов, потребовалось всего пять месяцев, чтобы довести их до 11 миллиардов долларов – самого низкого уровня, по крайней мере, с 2003 года. Чем меньше сокращаются резервы, тем больше вероятность нового обесценения. Эрдоганомика – занятие дорогое.
