По данным оппозиционной Народной республиканской партии (НРП), 4811 ученых были уволены из 112 университетов Турции.
В докладе зампредседателя партии Селина Сайека Боке и Зейнепа Алтыка сообщается, что 15 из 191 университетов были закрыты по постановлению турецких властей. Авторы доклада, представившие документ главе НРП Кемалю Кылычдароглу, отмечают, что правящая Партия справедливости и развития (ПСР) надавила на инакомыслящих научных сотрудников, а это противоречит её идеологии.
