По данным Reuters, один из не названных индийских высокопоставленных чиновников заявил, что «индийское правительство не приветствует мнения Турции и Малайзии, и поэтому решила ввести ограничения на торговлю с этими двумя странами». По его словам, ограничения коснутся нефтепродуктов и стальной продукции.
В прошлом году Индия отменила особый автономный статус штата Джамму и Кашмир, где преобладает мусульманское население, и присоединила штат к себе. Отрицательная реакция на это решение последовала от Турции через официальное заявление министерства иностранных дел.
