В отчете говорится, что приложение ByLock было выведено из пользования 1 марта 2016 года, то есть, за несколько месяцев до попытки государственного переворота в Турции. Кроме того, нет информации о том, что владелец патента на ByLock Дэвид Кейнс продал право пользования приложением третьим лицам.
«Сервер системы приложения, который находился в Литве, мог быть взломан Национальной разведывательной организацией Турции (MİT) летом 2016 года, поэтому данные некоторых пользователей могли попасть в распоряжение турецкой разведки», – отмечается в отчете американской компании Digital Forensic Corp специализирующейся на цифровой криминалистики.
